Log Analyzer Help - Workspace

Internet Marketing

<<< Navigation Bar

Log Information Import >>>

Workspace consists of three parts: Visits Window, Log Records Window and Filter Toolbar.

Workspace is individual for every tab selected in the Navigation Bar. Both for Visits from SE and Spider Visits it consists of 2 parts. If you open SE page, resource page or generate a report, workspace will work like Internet browser, allowing you to switch between the tabs in the navigation bar.

Visits from SE tab There are two fields here: Name and Popularity.

In the Visits Window (upper left) you can view information about the robots (for Spider Visits) or people (for Visits from SE) visiting your site and set filter options for displaying information in the table.

Depending on the value of Base combobox selected in the Filter toolbar, the values of the Name fields change. In the Name field you can view the name of the search engine, where your visitors came from. In the Popularity field you can view the number of visits from search engines and the percentage volume visits from a given SE constitute in the general number of visits.

You can sort visits either by Name (in the alphabetical order), or by Popularity (by the number of visits) selecting appropriate radio button in the filter toolbar on the right (Order by Name or by Country) and then clicking @Refresh. Some search engines may also have regional branches, for example Google.de or Google.co.uk. You can group them in the table by selecting Group SE by country or Group SE by service radio buttons or selecting both simultaneously. After every change in the filter toolbar you must click Refresh button.

For Visits from SE Tab filter toolbar contains the following options:

Base: the type of the information to be displayed in the Name field (Search Engine, Keyphrase, Resource)

Time Filter: select Use time filter check box and set the starting and the end point of the period you would like to view information about.

Order: you can sort records in the table by name or by popularity.

Additionally, you can group search engines by country of location and service.

For Keyphrase base, you can also split keyphrases into separate keywords.

Spider Visits tab As well as for Visits from SE, there is a table and Filter toolbar, which is slightly different though.

In the table you can see the names of spiders, visiting your site and statistics of visits. Much like in the Visits from SE tab, there are two fields here: Name and Popularity. For this tab Filter toolbar contains the following filtering options:

Base: you can select base for Visits table. There are three possible bases here: Spider, Date and Resource. If you select Spider, the table will display names of spiders, visiting your site and number of visits of every spider. If you select Date, the program will group log records by date. If you select Resource, the program will group records by pages visited by spiders. Also, if you select Resource as a base, Hide requests to robots.txt check box becomes enabled, which means that requests to standard files robots.txt will be ignored if you select it.

Time filter: you can set the program to display only certain period by setting starting date and final date.

You can order records by Name or Popularity by selecting an appropriate radio button.

Additionally, if you double-click or right-click an item in the table, a pop-up window appears, where you can select more detailed information about each item. For example, if you selected Spider as a base, you will see the list of spiders and number of times they visited your site. If you double-click for example, Google, you will see the following menu:

If you select Date, you will see information about Googe's robots visits to your site, grouped by dates.

If you select Resource, you will see information about Googe's robots visits to your site, grouped by pages.

To go up one level, select Go Up

To rebuild the table, click Refresh

To view visits from the Search Engine this robot belongs to, click Visit from current SE

Spider visits tab
